About this place
Malham village is a base for walking to three distinctive places: the limestone cliff and pavement of Malham Cove, the woodland waterfall at Janet's Foss and the gorge of Gordale Scar. The National Park's visitor guide shows individual walks as well as the Malham Landscape Trail, which links the main sights.
Choose one of those published options and use its map, distance and terrain information to plan your outing. Visiting the foot of the Cove is different from climbing to the pavement above, where there are many steps and exposed edges. Take care on wet limestone and woodland paths. Follow the mapped walking route around Gordale rather than assuming a scramble up the waterfall is part of an ordinary village walk.
