Settle waterfalls and limestone walks

Settle, North Yorkshire

About this place

Settle is a base for exploring the Ribble valley, nearby waterfalls and the limestone country around Attermire Scar. Stainforth Force is on the River Ribble, while Catrigg Force lies in a wooded gorge above Stainforth. Victoria Cave is among the historic features beneath the scars east of Settle.

Choose a published walk that suits the time and terrain you want. The National Park offers separate routes for Settle and Attermire Scar, and for Stainforth and Catrigg Force. Combining these places creates a different outing, so use the distance, map and access information for your chosen route. The fellside option involves steep climbing and rough ground. Check weather and local notices, and plan the return journey before setting out.
