About this place
The Settle-Carlisle Railway offers a rail journey through the Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley, including the crossing of Ribblehead Viaduct. Settle station is a convenient starting point for exploring the line or travelling to stops such as Ribblehead, Appleby and Carlisle.
The line forms part of the national rail network. Ordinary services are operated by Northern between Leeds and Carlisle via Settle; do not assume that a normal ticket is for a steam train or a special heritage excursion. Any advertised special trip has its own booking arrangements.
Use the current journey planner to check train times, fares, engineering work and your return connection. For a walking trip, plan the route and the last suitable train before setting out. Settle has a ticket office and ticket machine, but their availability should be checked for your travel date.
