About this place
Stainforth offers two contrasting waterfall visits. Stainforth Force is on the River Ribble, reached on foot from the village area. Catrigg Force is higher up, where the beck drops into a wooded gorge.
For a mapped circular walk to Catrigg Force, use the National Park's Stainforth and Catrigg Force guide. That walk includes stiles, a steep climb and woodland paths that can become slippery. Stainforth Force is a separate riverside visit; allow for the extra walking if you plan to see both falls. Stay on the marked paths and view the waterfalls from suitable ground, keeping clear of steep edges. Check conditions and the published route details before setting out.
