About this place
Skipton Castle Woods lies behind the castle, close to the High Street. Paths follow Eller Beck and climb the valley sides. Woodland access is separate from ticketed admission to the castle.
Entrances are at Old Sawmill, The Bailey and Short Lee Lane. The Woodland Trust states there is no step-free access. Expect slopes, steps and some narrower paths; wet conditions can bring mud. Check its current route and access notes before choosing a walk, especially with a wheelchair or pushchair.
Use nearby town car parks and plan toilet stops in town. Keep dogs controlled and give livestock space.
